August Plans
I didn't do a July recap because not much of interest happened last month. We spent a lot of time preparing for things that are happening this month. We have quite a busy August this year.
First, we moved to a new apartment. It's more affordable than our old place while also managing to be a step up in many ways. It's newly renovated, so it has nice subway tile in the kitchen and bathroom, and really pretty wood flooring throughout. It's also much bigger than our previous space. The only downsides are that there is no balcony and the bathroom has less storage space, but those are things we can deal with and a small price to pay for the apartment's advantages.
We moved everything in with the help of my sister and brother-in-law on Saturday, and we're still working on getting it all unpacked and arranged. Moving is a long and arduous process, and it makes you realize just how much stuff you've accumulated over time. There are definitely some things that we can give away because we don't need or use them.
Secondly, we have our wedding reception/celebration/party coming up this Saturday. We're having a casual barbecue outdoors at my parents' house. It's going to have a woodland theme, since my parents live next to a dense forest. I found some really cute woodland animals at Walmart to decorate with, and we're going to have bouquets of real flowers on the tables. I'm excited to celebrate with family and friends, and even though planning has been a bit stressful, I've mostly enjoyed getting ready for the event.
Lastly, we have our honeymoon trip to New York coming up next week. We'll be leaving on Wednesday and getting back on Saturday. We're going to stay in the city for a couple of days, explore, and see Incubus with Coheed and Cambria at Madison Square Garden. Then we'll take a day trip to Tarrytown, also known as Sleepy Hollow, and bask in the early autumn vibes.
I feel so relieved to be in the new place, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming festivities. August is a good month.
