Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia
When I was a kid, one of my favorite computer games was technically not a game at all. It was the 1995 edition of Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia.
I remember booting it up and being greeted by Patrick Stewart, who I knew as Captain Picard at the time. There was a screen that looked like a newsroom that you could click around and explore, which I thought was fascinating and kind of made me want to be a news anchor for a while. I would come home from school and spend hours on the computer just exploring and reading the encyclopedia. I was a huge nerd is what it boils down to.
Today is the 30th anniversary of Windows 95, and I can't help but think of Compton's Encyclopedia when I think of Windows 95.
