Dragon's Dogma 2 Hype

Last year, I played Dragon's Dogma for the first time, and I fell in love. It's an action-RPG, originally released in 2012, where you get to create both your player character, known as the Arisen, and their main companion, known as a pawn. I'm a sucker for games where I get to spend time customizing every aspect of my character, so Dragon's Dogma is a real treat because it lets you do it twice!

The sequel to Dragon's Dogma is coming out next week, and its character creator has already been released to allow players to get their characters ready ahead of time. It's easily one of the best character creators I've ever seen, with a level of detail in its customization options that I don't think any previous game has quite matched up to. People have been going wild with it, creating impressive versions of Mads Mikkelsen, Lae'zel from Baldur's Gate 3, and -- horrifyingly -- Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.

Unsurprisingly, I've spent three hours playing around with it, trying to settle on how I want my Arisen and pawn to look. I already knew I wanted them to be an archer and a mage, the same vocations as my characters in the original game, because I had way too much fun with them the first time around. I think I've finally settled on their appearances as well, so I present to you my Arisen, Sasha, and her main pawn, Aeryn:

Aren't they beautiful? I'm so excited to play! Dragon's Dogma holds some of my most memorable moments in gaming, and I love how it constantly kept me on my toes with different enemy types and strategies. It has one of the most unique combat systems out there, and I can't wait to see how they've updated and expanded on it in the sequel. I'm sure I'll be posting more thoughts on it soon!
