Syl's Blog

About Me

a woman with long brown hair and blue eyes, dark red glasses, and a black shirt

Hey there, and welcome to my site! I'm Alyssa, also known as Syl among friends, hence the site's title. I'm in my 30s, I use the pronouns she/her, and I'm an introvert and goth at heart, although I only sometimes dress like it.

I live in the often-humid southern United States, in a pollen-filled valley of the Appalachian Mountains, where I share an apartment with my fiance and best friend.

To pay the bills, I work from home as an accountant, but when I'm not working my day job, I write for fun and profit.

I also like to play video games, bake, travel, drink coffee, and pet dogs. I collect Silent Hill merch, pins, and CDs. I'm a huge fan of Halloween, horror, and all things spooky -- but I also love cute things like Sanrio, My Little Pony, and plushies.

About the Site

This is simply a personal blog where I can ramble about anything and everything that comes to mind without having to edit myself or pay particular attention to what I'm writing. It's a cathartic outlet where I can be myself.

Topics range from video games I've played to music I love to places I've been and everything in between. This blog does not have -- and never will have -- a certain focus. If you want more serious, less rambly writing, feel free to check out my portfolio.

I love making new friends, and if you found me through this site, I'd love it if you said hey! You can email me at alyhat[@]gmail[.]com.

Find Me

I don't really do social media anymore, but you can find me posting mostly about adventure games at Bluesky as crimsonlea, playing a variety of games on Steam as crimsonlea, and chatting on Discord as -- you guessed it -- crimsonlea.
