I'm Back!

It's been quite some time since I last posted, but I have a good reason: I broke my wrist.

Remember my kayaking adventure? Well, I loved it so much that I went a second time with my cousin. This time, we kayaked a 3-hour-long portion of the Tennessee River. It was a beautiful day and a lovely experience. After we were done and pulled our kayaks back up the ramp to land, I went back down the ramp with the idea of wading in the water a bit. I was enjoying the day and being surrounded by nature, and I wanted to soak it up a little more.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to wade. The ramp was slick with algae, and I slipped, catching myself with my left arm. I knew immediately something had gone wrong. My wrist felt off and was in extreme pain. The kayaking trip sadly ended with my cousin driving me to the ER, where I discovered that I had a wrist fracture and bone displacement, and I would need surgery to fix it.

I was in a brace for about two weeks before my surgery date, which was October 6th. After surgery, I was in a splint and bandage for a week, and now I'm back in a brace. I'm still recovering and trying to get my full range of movement back in my left wrist and hand. Typing this is a bit hard because I don't have full use of my left hand yet. I'm set to have physical therapy, which will help get things back to normal.

It's been a challenge, but I've just been using this time during recovery to rest and do as much self-care as possible. I return to work next week. Finances have been part of the challenge, as I only got paid for half of my time off, but we're getting through it.

For four days at the end of September, while my wrist was broken, I made the decision to go with my family on our trip to Universal Studios. I had a blast even with my wrist, and I'll write about it soon. I'm also hoping to get back to writing for Adventure Game Hotspot. I miss playing games and writing about them.

I'll try to update again soon, but for now I'm going to give my wrist and hand some rest!
