Kayaking Adventure

Yesterday, I went on my first ever kayaking trip! My cousin recently purchased two kayaks and invited me to try it out with him. We did a fairly easy course on a tributary downriver, but it was still a pretty strenuous four-hour trip! There were some spots where the water was too shallow to paddle, so we had to get out and pull our kayaks. Next time, we're going to try a course on a full river that's deeper so we can hopefully stay in our boats the entire time, but this was good for beginners.
It was quite a workout! I was grateful for my arm workouts earlier in the week because they really prepared me for paddling for four hours straight. I'm a bit sore today but not as badly as I thought I'd be. I've fallen in love with kayaking and desperately want to do it again. It's so nice being on the water. We spotted a few herons (or maybe cranes?) on the trip, and there were quite a lot of dragonflies.
I didn't turn my kayak over at any point, thankfully, but I did slip and fall into the water a couple of times while trying to get back into it after getting out to pull it. Not my most graceful of moments, but it happens. I need to practice getting into the kayak while in deeper water in case I fall out on future trips. At least this time I was only up to my knees.
I didn't take many pictures because I was focused on the adventure itself and keeping my phone dry, but here are a couple more, including one of a natural dam that we slid down. We were proud of ourselves for making our way past it!
