Lately in Pictures

Just a few things I've been up to lately...with pictures!

Eating good food:

On Friday evening, Danny and I met a couple of friends at a BBQ place in town called Humble Hog. I got the smoked trout, which came with pickled blueberries and chickpeas. It was so good!

Yesterday morning, I went with my mom, sister, and niece to a local place called The Farmacy for breakfast. I had the biscuits with gravy, chicken, and candied bacon. It was honestly one of the best meals of my life. I'm still thinking about it, and I definitely want to go back there soon. The decor was also super cute, so I had to snap a picture of it as well.

Going on walks with Ranni:

We took Ranni to a riverside park last weekend. I did some swimming while she splashed around in the water, and Danny hung out on the shore with her. She loves water, but she's anxious about swimming out into water that's too deep for her, so she stays at the shore and just splashes. I'd love to get her into swimming, but it will be a slow and patient process.

After we hung out in the water, we hiked one of the trails. It was a beautiful day. Hot but not sweltering, with a nice breeze. And just look at those puffy clouds!

Reading horror books and gearing up for Halloween:

As I mentioned in my last post, I've been getting back into horror books. Darcy Coates is a highly recommend author that I'm currently checking out. I started with The Haunting of Blackwood House because I liked the premise, about a woman named Mara who grew up in a family of spiritualists and now rejects anything to do with the other side, but when she moves into a haunted house, the spirits there seem determined to remind her that they exist. I'm really enjoying it so far! The horror is great, and there's a cute little romance between Mara and her boyfriend Neil at the core of it too.

Of course, this is also the time of year when I start getting ridiculously excited for Halloween. Danny surprised me with this cute ghost decoration the other day. Halloween decorations are already going up around the house -- it's never too early for me!
