Old School Questions

I saw these questions on maya's blog and it brought me back to the old web days when I'd answer surveys on Livejournal and Dreamwidth. I thought it looked fun, and if you know me and my blog, you know I'm all about participating in fun prompts!

1. What movie have you watched most recently? What did you think of it? I watched What's Up, Doc? the other night. It's a '70s screwball comedy starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal. I loved it! I was laughing pretty much the entire time, but especially during the car chase sequence, which is one of the best set pieces I've ever seen in a movie.

2. What are you looking forward to right now? The weekend! On Saturday, Danny and I are celebrating our anniversary with dinner (nothing fancy, just Fazoli's) and a movie (haven't decided what we're gonna see yet). On Sunday, I'm trying out another local coffee shop with my mom and sister, and it's also the day my friend streams on Twitch.

3. If you could do anything at all today, what would it be? I'd find a hot spring somewhere and just soak for a while.

4. What's your drink of choice? (Coffee/tea order, alcohol of choice, pop, etc)
coffee: mocha with oat milk
tea: matcha latte, taro milk tea with boba, or coffee milk tea
alcohol: whiskey ginger or cider
soda: Sprite

5. What's your hair routine like? Anything special? Nothing special. I shampoo it and let it air dry most days. If I'm going somewhere nice, I'll take the flat-iron to it just to make sure there are no weird lumps and it's nice and smooth.

6. What's your favorite way to travel? Is there a mode of travel you haven't done that you want to experience? By train! Danny and I both love trains. I even watch a lot of train-centric channels on YouTube, like Chloe and sometimes Ludvig and Kuga's Travel. I'd like to take a long, multi-day trip on a sleeper train someday. It's on my bucket list.

7. Favorite month of the year and why? It's a three-way tie. October because I love Halloween. December because I love Christmas and winter. And March because it's my birthday month and I love the very beginning of spring.

8. Favorite time of day and why? I really don't know the answer to this question. I love early mornings and late nights, but I also like midday when I've accomplished stuff but also still have the rest of the day ahead of me. I just like having days! Keep 'em coming!

9. Do you play or follow any sports? & elaborate on that? I played soccer growing up and used to love watching women's soccer and the Premier League. Now I mainly just catch the Olympics and that's it.

10. What kind of music is stuck in your head a lot lately? I've been listening to the Paradise Killer soundtrack a lot lately, so "Paradise (Stay Forever)" has been stuck in my head.

11. Dishes or laundry? Dishes, without hesitation. Laundry is my least favorite household chore. It takes forever and is so tedious. We live in an apartment and don't currently have our own washer and dryer, so we have to go to the laundry room on the other side of the complex, which makes it even worse. Whereas with dishes, I can just load the dishwasher and I'm done!

12. What's something you learned recently? I learned about rotary snowplow trains from one of Kuga's videos on YouTube. For some reason, I've never thought about the fact that railroads need to be cleared of snow just like paved roads. It was cool to see what a snowplow train looks like!

13. If you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about? I would opt not to give a TED talk.

14. What's a piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot? Good ol' YOLO.

15. What's a piece of advice you would give to yourself five years ago? "Don't get stuck inside your own head."

16. Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any lucky rules? I don't know if I really believe in them, but I like superstitions and rituals, and I've always loved four-leaf clovers. I carry a keychain that's a real four-leaf clover in resin on my keyring. It might be all in my head, placebo effect, but they kinda give me a sense of peace and security.

17. Are you musical? Play any instruments or sing? Would you ever perform for an audience? I enjoy singing, and I'm not the worst at it but also not the best. I used to be a really good Rock Band drummer! I have no idea how that would translate to actually playing the drums, though.

18. Write, type, or speak? I want to say write, but the honest answer is type. I grew up with computers and am unfortunately not immune to hand cramps, but I do love the feel of a good smooth pen on paper.

19. What do you wish someone would ask you? I'm going to steal Maya's answer here and say "Would you like one million dollars right now, no strings attached?" It wouldn't even have to be a million dollars, just a significant sum of money that would give me a financial cushion would be nice.
