Statuslog - September 2026
I'm doing a new monthly series on this blog called Statuslog, where I post all of my social statuses for the past month. I got the idea from Jedda's micro thoughts. It made me realize I'd like to have one place for my social updates. Social media feels so ephemeral, with things being forgotten soon after you post them and lost in the ether if anything ever happens to the site or if you decide to delete your account.
I thought this would be a fun way to look back on the month, everything that happened and its overall vibe, while also securing my posts in a more permanent place. I only post on Mastodon and status.lol, so this consists of a combination of posts from both places, from most recent to oldest. It might be redundant at times, but I'm going to include all posts regardless. The only ones I'm skipping are links to my own blog posts, unless I had something significant to say in the status besides simply announcing and linking to the post.
Let's see how my thoughts in September went!

๐ I'm possibly going to be organizing a book sale with the library I volunteer for, and I'm excited about it!

๐ฅ Finished Silent Hill Townfall! I think it's going to be my personal game of the year. Almost a perfect experience for me.

And that's Silent Hill Townfall finished! I think it'll be my personal game of the year. Almost a perfect experience for me.

I've made a conscious decision not to buy any games with my current paycheck, even cheap ones. I need to work on my backlog and be more deliberate about the games I purchase for a while.

My husband finally finished his last two weeks at his former job, which means he's no longer working double shifts! We get to hang out today!
Autumn weather. Heck yes. I'm wearing a sweatshirt.
I watched Hades in Concert on YouTube and it was great! Haven't played Hades 2 yet, but the music of both games is fantastic.
September 26, 2026 @ 12:23 PM
I went ahead and submitted a positive review on Steam for Silent Hill Townfall. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm sure I'm over halfway through. I'm sad to see that it's getting mixed reviews because I'm loving my time with it so far! If my opinion changes, I'll update my review, but I wanted to contribute something positive to the pile.

๐ถ New songs from Chvrches, Crypta, and Sugababes have all dropped within the past couple of days, and there's news that an anniversary edition of Evanescence's The Open Door is releasing soon. It's been a musical feast lately!

Silent Hill Townfall is out! I managed to play a couple of hours this morning, and I'm loving the atmosphere of St. Amelia.
Good news from my endoscopy. Nothing major to worry about.
Good coffee. I feel like this will always be on this list, especially if I'm writing it in the morning. :P
September 22, 2026 @ 6:12 PM
๐ถ There's a new Chvrches song out today! Loved it after one listen. It'll definitely go on the "on repeat" playlist.
September 22, 2026 @ 2:39 PM
๐ Happy autumn equinox!

๐ช We're back from our vacation in the mountains! How is it that a vacation leaves you feeling tired when it's supposed to be refreshing? Still, we had a great time! I'll do a blog post about it in the near future.
September 14, 2026 @ 4:30 PM
โฐ๏ธ Just read a quote by Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee, referring to the Earth: "How would you walk across a loverโs back?"
September 14, 2026 @ 3:56 PM
๐ Tomorrow is the day! We head out to our cabin in the mountains for our 3-day vacation. I can't wait to just relax and enjoy nature. Danny and I both need this vacation.
September 13, 2026 @ 6:19 PM
๐ฑ๏ธ Started playing Valheim and I'm loving how chill it is compared to other survival games. Reminds me a bit of The Long Dark. It might become my new go-to comfort game.
September 12, 2026 @ 3:41 PM
๐ก I got an email this morning from an AI bot telling me it practiced on my most recent blog post and trying to sell me "writing hooks" and an opening line for my next post. I hate it here.
September 10, 2026 @ 3:45 PM
๐ I have vacation brain. Can't stop thinking about our upcoming vacation, to the point where it's hard to focus on anything else!
September 10, 2026 @ 3:09 PM
๐ฎ The Ocarina of Time remake looks magical, and the trailer had me smiling. I still don't think we necessarily need a remake, but I'm excited for it in spite of myself.
September 9, 2026 @ 9:42 PM
โจ๏ธ Just finished The Incident at Galley House, and I wish I was still playing it! Fantastic writing that kept me on the edge of my seat. I'd love to see more text adventures recreated in this way. I think they're great on their own, but it's also great to see them given this kind of care.

"Creativity is a process, one that begins with ideation and conception. Indeed, these are some of the most enjoyable parts of creating something; writers get to envision whole new worlds, artists get to sketch out their most deranged fever dreams, designers get to invent new genres and mechanics. It feels almost banal to say at this point, but thatโs the last place where we want AI intruding."
