Zine Vol. 4 and 5 Facts
I have good news! Volume 4 of my indie recs zine is finally published, and it got featured on the front page of ZinesForever! You can check out the new issue plus all previously published issues at my ZinesForever profile.
I debated using a different zine-maker, but it turns out that ZinesForever was in the process of revamping their entire site and I really like the new version. The zine editor is a little wonky, but I think I've figured it out enough to be comfortable with it, and I like that they're making constant improvements. I'm going to stick with it for now.
Hopefully, next month I'll have more recs for you! I only included 8 instead of 10 this time, but some of them are longer than the games I usually feature, so I think that kind of makes up for it.
I thought it would be fun to follow some of the Blaugust prompts this month. To round out this post, I'm going with the prompt: Tell us 5 facts about yourself.
My favorite place in the world is New York City, and I love learning about its history. My favorite NYC writers are Joseph Mitchell and E.B. White. I'm also a big fan of the Bowery Boys podcast.
I love fishing in video games and in real life. One of my unattainable dream jobs is a fish biologist.
Growing up, Brandi Chastain was a big hero of mine. I played soccer throughout school, and I watched every match of the 1999 Women's World Cup. I remember her pulling off her jersey in celebration being a bit controversial at the time (because of misogyny and weirdness), but I thought she was iconic.
Perfume is one of my few indulgences. At the moment, the fragrance I'm loving the most is DedCool's Xtra Milk, and for the summer I use Sol de Janeiro's Cheirosa 62 quite often.
I don't drink much alcohol anymore, but every now and then I love a good hefeweizen beer.
